NCCC Alums Technology & Development Coordinator
AmeriCorps*NCCC
has entered into a groundbreaking partnership with AmeriCorps Alums with the goal of enhancing communication with
alumni, reengaging past alumni and encouraging all alumni to stay involved
following their serve year. This
partnership will help provide innovative leadership, policy, and service
opportunities to connect and mobilize civic leaders produced by AmeriCorps NCCC
and will offer our alums and staff a unique host of resources in one
centralized location.
Job Description:
The
NCCC Alums Technology and Development
Coordinator will work to ensure proper online communication development and
implementation with regard to the AmeriCorps Alums/NCCC Alumni contract. He/she
will also be charged with creating a sound infrastructure for NCCC alumni
special projects/events. This position is located in the Washington, DC
headquarters of AmeriCorps Alums. He/she will be supervised by the AmeriCorps
Alums External Relations Manager and work closely with the AmeriCorps NCCC
Alumni and Partnership Coordinator. Duties include:
NCCC Technology/Social
Media
- Optimize, sort and
report on NCCC data in both Salesforce.com and YourMembership.com (our
CRM/database systems)
- Develop and customize an
AmeriCorps Alums NCCC alumni blog
- Conduct online, phone
interviews with alums, research NCCC alumni issues and write engaging
content for an official AmeriCorps Alums NCCC alumni blog
- Create a story bank of
strong alumni stories and choose those that we will include in an outreach
mailing
- Research, develop and
implement a blog aggregator/website for ALL NCCC member and alumni blogs
(using wordpress MU or other technology)
- Connect AmeriCorps
Alums social media outlets to all NCCC social media outlets, monitor NCCC
posts and share mutually beneficial information across all outlets
- Create an AmeriCorps
Alums NCCC-specific YouTube channel
and link to all existing NCCC and AmeriCorps Alums social media
News and online publication
- Work with AmeriCorps
NCCC staff to write content for and optimize the distribution of AmeriCorps
Alums NCCC news.
- Post news content to
NCCC campus groups and overall group on americorpsalums.org, the
AmeriCorps Alums blog and all social media
- Enhance NCCC pages on
americorpsalums.org through the use of pictures, video and written content
Special Projects/Events
- Lead NCCC CRSs and
AmeriCorps Alums Chapter Liaisons to connect and mobilize local alumni to
establish an AmeriCorps Alums chapter in 11 target cities: Baltimore, MD, Camden, NJ, Washington,
DC, Memphis, TN, New Orleans, LA, Cedar Rapids, IA, Flint, MI, Denver, CO,
Houston, TX,
Sacramento, and Los Angeles
- Plan and execute up to
12 networking events for current NCCC members in target cities and/or NCCC
campuses
- Assist in design,
content and execution of mailings to all AmeriCorps Alums
- Contact universities
in NCCC target cities and inquire/pitch an Ed award match
Qualifications
and Core Skills:
·
Advanced
knowledge of AmeriCorps NCCC (Alum preferred, but not required)
·
Excellent
organizational skills and precise attention to detail
·
Proven
skill in writing for online publication
·
Proficiency
in all MS Office systems and Adobe Photoshop
·
Knowledge
of online technology— specifically publishing, social media, CRM
systems/databases (HTML knowledge a plus)
·
Advanced
knowledge and training in design aesthetics
·
Event
and project management expertise
·
Strong
work ethic, ready to learn and work hard
·
Self-starter
who is comfortable working alone and with a small team
Anticipated Start/End Date: mid February 2010 – June 30, 2010

Job Description:
The
AmeriCorps Alums Communications Intern will primarily be responsible for putting
together electronic and print communications for large-scale events during National
AmeriCorps Week, May 8-15, 2010. Specifically he/she will design media kits, one-pagers and email blasts for different
audiences, update our website and blog, write content for newsletters and assist with other communication/marketing tasks.
Specific Projects/
Duties:
- Develop a
media kit with one-page marketing pieces and media contact information for
headquarters and target local markets for National AmeriCorps Week.
- Support the
External Relations Manager and Alumni SSE Team in
coordinating 30-60 service projects for National AmeriCorps Week including
drafting media materials, outreach emails and making calls to local alumni
to see what assistance they need.
- Update the
website, www.americorpsalums.org
and the blog https://americorpsalums.wordpress.com
on a daily/weekly basis with fresh new content.
- Increase
sales of the new AmeriCorps Alums merchandise line by conducting outreach
to target markets.
- Track work
and make updates in Salesforce, our Contact Management System.
- Other duties
as assigned

Position: Alumni Services Intern
Spring Semester: Feb - May 2010
Job Description:
The
AmeriCorps Alums Alumni Member Services Intern will primarily be responsible
for supporting our alumni members’ needs specifically for our large scale
national events during National
AmeriCorps Week, May 8-15, 2010 and promoting our partnership program with
higher education partners. Specifically the person will get to develop their customer
service and professional skills through email and phone communication as well
as their creativity with outreach materials and support toolkits. The intern
will be in charge of the 10 celebration events at MLB baseball stadiums across
the country during National AmeriCorps Week.
Specific Projects/
Duties:
- Provide
value to alumni members by creating promoting university/college
scholarship opportunities that AmeriCorps Alums has with higher education
partners. Outreach will include
contacting current higher education partners to invite them to become a Gold
Level partner.
- Support the
External Relations Manager and Alumni SSE Team in
coordinating 30-60 service projects for National AmeriCorps Week including
drafting media materials, outreach emails and making calls to local alumni
to see what assistance they need.
- Support
alumni leaders in 10 target cities on the National AmeriCorps Week
celebration event at a MLB baseball stadium including working with the
ball park, writing outreach emails to sell tickets, sending merchandise to
give away.
- Respond to
daily/weekly phone and email customer service requests from alumni.
- Track work
and make updates in Salesforce, our Contact Management System.
- Other duties
as assigned
