AmeriCorps Alums is lead by a staff of three and a dynamic, diverse Leadership Council of alums and Friends. The Leadership Council was established in October 2006 and members serve one and two year terms. As a program of Hands On Network, AmeriCorps Alums is accountable to the Hands On Network Board, however the AmeriCorps Alums Leadership Council advises the Board on all matters important to AmeriCorps Alums.

is the Director of AmeriCorps Alums, a project of Hands On Network, which strives to connect, mobilize and support alumni of AmeriCorps. Prior to this position, Tripp served as the Director of National Service at the DC Commission on National and Community Service. From 2000-2004 she worked at the Points of Light Foundation managing the Episodic Volunteering Program and overseeing the AmeriCorps Promise Fellows program. Tripp graduated from James Madison University in 1997 with a degree in Psychology and Early Childhood Education. Her passion for service can be seen out of the office as well. She taught literacy in Ghana, West Africa, coached a team of young girls in a self-esteem/character building program and has started the local DC chapter of AmeriCorps Alums.
Alumni Mobilization Manager, AmeriCorps Alums

Bio: Joining AmeriCorps Alums in September 2005, Greg Heinrich is the Alumni Mobilization Manager and is charge of online community efforts and grassroots policy efforts. Prior to his current position, Heinrich was an AmeriCorps member with the Hands On Atlanta AmeriCorps program where he served Atlanta’s youth by facilitating after school programming and youth service projects. He is also a founding member of the Atlanta Chapter of AmeriCorps Alums, and is in charge of youth programming for the chapter. Heinrich is also a youth mentor for the East Atlanta Kids Club. Heinrich graduated from Auburn University- Montgomery where he received a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance.
Member Services and Outreach Coordinator, AmeriCorps Alums
Bio: Whitney Soenksen is the newest member of the AmeriCorps Alums team working as the Member Services and Outreach Coordinator. Orignially from Iowa, Soenksen (pronounced 'Sank-sen') worked as a broadcast journalist and for the Iowa Citizen Action Network where her passion for service and community building took form. Soenksen moved to Boston in 2005 where she served for 2 years with the AmeriCorps Massachusetts Promise Fellowship at Boston Cares as the Youth and Families Volunteer Coordinator. During that time, she also completed her MS in Leadership and Nonprofit Management at Northeastern University, led trips to the Gulf Coast as a disaster relief volunteer and acted as a mentor to 6 teenage interns. Prior to joining the Alums team, Soenksen worked as the Membership and Communications Coordinator for MassCOSH, a regional nonprofit focused on worker safety and health. She was also a founding member and leader of the Boston Chapter of AmeriCorps Alums and graduated in 2003 from the University of Iowa with degrees in American Studies and Journalism.
Policy Intern, AmeriCorps Alums
Bio: Rebecca Hsieh is currently a graduate student at American University in Washington D.C., where she is pursuing a Masters degree in Justice Law and Society. Originally, Hsieh hails from Ventura, California, and resided in California until her move to the East Coast. In California, Hsieh attended University of California Irvine and received Bachelors degrees in Criminology Law and Society, a second degree in Psychology and Social Behavior, and a minor in Biology. She enjoys Washington DC and is excited to be a part of the progressive changes happening in D.C.
Social Media Intern, AmeriCorps Alums
Bio: Michael Ono is a third year print journalism student at American University's School of Communication. Michael comes to D.C. from Hawaii where he first discovered that he enjoyed reporting at his school's paper. Ono plans to pursue his print career with an increased focus in multimedia skills and web strategy. He has worked as an online community leader for the website
9rules.com and is considering a career as a web producer.
