SCHOOLS THAT PROVIDE A PREMIUM MATCH TO THE SEGAL AMERICORPS ED AWARD

AmeriCorps Alums recognizes that some universities have gone above and beyond in their commitment to the education of AmeriCorps alumni. These universities have made it much easier for AmeriCorps alumni to leverage their Education Award and increase financial reach. Schools that offer a premium match for the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award have made a significant amount of financial resources available to AmeriCorps alumni who are accepted into their respective institutions. The following institutions offer a premium match to the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award.
AmeriCorps Alums, the premier leadership organization supporting AmeriCorps alumni world‐wide has collaborated with The Heller School to offer The Heller School / AmeriCorps Alums National Service Scholarship Program. This program will help bring idealistic and committed leaders with a high level of maturity, insight and experience working in diverse settings to the Heller School as the school of choice for those who choose service.
Heller views AmeriCorps experience as a reliable indicator of high performance, commitment to social justice, leadership and teamwork. These are the attributes of successful graduate students, professionals and citizens.
All eligible applicants will receive a partial tuition scholarship according to this table. Additionally, one or more full‐tuition scholarships will be awarded to eligible candidates annually. This is a tuition‐only scholarship; fees, books, and other expenses will be the responsibility of the student.

Heinz College offers AmeriCorps alums a minimum of $10,000 per semester in tuition scholarship for those who enroll in a master’s degree program.
Heinz College has an international reputation for excellence in educational programs and faculty research. Its programs in information technology, criminal justice policy, policy analysis, finance, environmental policy and arts management are respected across the nation and internationally as among the elite. Programs in health care and medical management, educational technology and other areas continue to grow and achieve national prominence. In addition, Heinz College administers the Master of Information Systems Management and the Master of Information Technology degree programs for the University.
Heinz College graduates serve in key managerial positions across a wide range of government, business and non-profit organizations. The school still takes a flexible and interdisciplinary approach to teach students to look at societal problems from many different perspectives, using technology, quantitative and qualitative analysis and group dynamics to arrive at innovative solutions.

IDCE actively recruits AmeriCorps Alumni because they are often exemplary of our "ideal” student—one interested in becoming an agent of social change. IDCE provides generous fellowship opportunities to all AmeriCorps alumni admitted into one of our four graduate programs in International Development and Social Change, Community Development and Planning, Geographic Information Science for Development and Environment, and Environmental Science and Policy.
IDCE prepares students to become agents of social change—locally, nationally, and internationally—in an increasingly interconnected world. Our mission is to engage scholars, practitioners, and activists to think critically and act collectively to alleviate the effects of inequity, environmental degradation, and poverty. In addressing these challenges, we seek to develop new knowledge, innovative tools, and creative strategies. If you are looking to bridge your AmeriCorps practical experience with theory, IDCE could be the right place for you.
IDCE provides partial tuition fellowships worth at least 40 percent tuition remission (more than $20,000 at current tuition rates) to all AmeriCorps alumni admitted to one of IDCE’s graduate programs. This fellowship includes and often exceeds the match provided by the AmeriCorps education award.
Additionally, each year, IDCE awards at least one full tuition-free competitive fellowship for an AmeriCorps alum of extraordinary merit. You must check the appropriate box on the IDCE application to be considered for these fellowships; there is not a separate application. Applicants must provide some form of verification of service at the time of the application in order to waive the $50 application fee. This is a tuition‐only fellowship; fees, books, living costs, and other expenses will be the sole responsibility of the student.

Illinois State University’s Stevenson Center for Community and Economic Development welcomes former AmeriCorps members as Applied Community and Economic Development Fellows. Fellows fulfill one calendar year of on-campus study, including the core courses for a master's degree in Applied Economics, Political Science, or Sociology, each with an interdisciplinary sequence in Applied Community/Economic Development. Fellows then complete an 11-month paid professional internship. Fellows have a graduate assistantship and stipend during the fall and spring semester on campus, and they receive a full tuition waiver over the 2-year program.
