AmeriCorps Alums hosts quarterly chapter business meetings where the entire alums community is invited to take part in determining and planning activities, assessing old/new partnerships and determining what value we bring to our alums membership. We generally have social time immediately following the meeting.  The chance to join a committee will be available at community meetings, we are always looking for new leaders to emerge!

AmeriCorps Alums DC is so excited to announce the launch of our Adopt a School ongoing service opportunity. At the September Community Meeting the chapter will hear more details and get to hear from the principal of our school. In October (tentatively the 3rd or 4th Saturday in Oct) we will host our first service project with the school and then continue to serve them in various ways throughout the year including:

  • Supplementing the library with books
  • Beautification projects for the visual upkeep of the school
  • Chaperoning field trips with the students
  • Tutoring students who need extra help
  • Establishing computer labs in each classrooms
