Re: Francis Marion National Forest Cleanup - Charleston/Berkeley County Area
Date: February 5th, 2011 @ 8 a.m. Meeting place is Sewee Environmental Education Center, 5821 Hwy. 17 N., Awendaw, SC
In a joint effort with the USDA Forest Service, we have planned a February 5th, 2011, cleanup of the Francis Marion National Forest and we need your help. Illegal dumping continues to be a problem in many areas of our National Forests and we are determined to prevent it through education, enforcement, awareness and pickup.
We are calling on you to join us for this one day cleanup event. We need volunteers for site leaders and to pick up litter (see descriptions below). Volunteers are encouraged to bring trucks/trailers if available. We will also accept donations. The cleanup will last until 12:00 p.m. After the cleanup, we will provide lunch for all the volunteers who helped clean the Francis Marion National Forest. Also, local businesses have donated items to be awarded to volunteers. Berkeley and Charleston Counties will dispose of litter gathered by volunteers.
Please review the following list. If you would like to volunteer to clean up or to help coordinate the event, please underline your desired volunteer position and email it back to me at ecampbell@palmettopride.org or fax (803) 758-6032 attention Gene Campbell or USPS:
