The 10 AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) members working on Casa Grande Mountain are hosting a Day of Service on February 25.
Youth in the community are invited to participate in a series of events aimed at promoting community involvement. The event, which is being called Get With It, will feature outdoor activities, a raffle, and opportunities to meet and network with community organizations.
The Casa Grande Union High School chapter of Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), Boarder Patrol Explorers, the Boys & Girls Club of Casa Grande, Casa Grande Alliance, and the Casa Grande Daybreak Rotary Club are scheduled to participate in the event.
"When kids are involved in activities in their community, they are more likely to make a positive impact on not only their own life but on other people’s lives as well,” said Corps Member Makayla Allen, coordinator of the event. "This event gives kids a chance to ‘Get With It.’”
Allen and her NCCC team have been working on Casa Grande Mountain building trail since January 10. The team has also done service work with Seeds of Hope, the Give Kids a Smile project, Mesquite High School, and the Casa Grande Food Bank. The team departs Casa Grande on March 4.
Get With It is being held at Carr McNatt Park from 3 to 5 p.m. on February 25. Admission is free.
