Join the Atlanta Chapter of AmeriCorps Alums and the Georgia Commission on Service and Volunteerism for this unique film screening opportunity.  American Idealist brings the story of Sargent Shriver to life in this inspirational look at a life dedicated to the service of others.  A powerful 90-minute depiction of practical activism, it offers a hopeful vision of what this nation could be and could do, based on the experience of what it once did when pushed by the civil rights movement and guided by the War on Poverty. Beyond broadcast, a multi-media National Education and Outreach Campaign will extend the reach and impact of the program and its powerful themes for years to come.
Following the screening, we will break up into small group discussion to discuss the spirit of service incubated by Sargent Shriver, and how those values are lived out in today's national service programs.
National AmeriCorps Alums Reception to follow from 6:30PM - 8:30PM.
