On the last Saturday in April each year, in the spirit of a traditional American "barn raising" an average of 1,000 skilled and un-skilled volunteers join together to repair anywhere from 40 to 70 homes between one community in Baltimore City and one community in Baltimore County.

Please join AmeriCorps Alums of Baltimore in serving on the upcoming Rebuilding Day in Baltimore as we repair homes and work on community projects in the Baltimore City neighborhood of Mid-Govans and the Baltimore County neighborhood of Colgate. Whether you are a professional plumber, carpenter, electrician, home handyperson, gardener, or a just a friendly neighbor willing to pick up a paint brush, broom or shovel, your help will be greatly appreciated and the experience will be one that you will value forever.

Sign up at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Q3R8W5Y. For the first question, select "I will be joining a community beautification project."  When it asks what group you are with, select Baltimore AmeriCorps Alums.  Please register by Wednesday, April 24.

We will be meeting at Dewees Recreation Center on Saturday morning at 9:00 am.  Carpooling is encouraged.

Volunteers will check in, be assigned to projects, and sent out to sites in the Mid-Govans Community by 9:30 am.  Projects will most likely finish up by mid to late afternoon; and all projects should be completed by 5:00 pm.

Please wear comfortable closed-toed shoes. For safety purposes, please do NOT wear flip flops or other open-toed shoes. If you do not have the appropriate footwear, you will not be able to volunteer. Bring sunscreen and a re-usable water bottle. Rebuilding Together will provide t-shirts, water, and lunches for all volunteers. Some projects will include painting and landscaping, so be sure to wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty.

Please note, volunteers must be 14 years of age or older. If a volunteer is between the ages of 14 and 17, they must have a parent sign a paper agreement (waiver) prior to volunteering with us. We will email the parental agreement to any volunteer under the age of 18 so that they can print it out, complete it and bring it to their volunteer site on Rebuilding Day.
