Dear DC AmeriCorps Alum,

Join fellow alumni in helping current corps members prepare for life after AmeriCorps! Share your knowledge and experience in a fun, innovative 18 MINUTE NETWORKING format. Besides being a fun and interactive evening with great hors d'oeuvres and refreshments, this event co-sponsored by City Year and AmeriCorps Alums-DC will showcase the power of the AmeriCorps Alums network and its many leaders to support each other's work in the community, support currently serving members, and live the values of a lifetime of service. Event details are as follows:

PURPOSE:  Facilitate a dialogue about life after AmeriCorps and give corps members the opportunity to meet and network with alumni who are established in their careers and have leveraged their AmeriCorps experience to succeed in the working world.

STRUCTURE:  Two or three alumni with experience in a particular field of work lead small group discussions about the steps they have taken since graduating from AmeriCorps that have let them to their current work. The Emcee introduces each of three 18 minute sessions (two sessions, break, and one final session). After each 18 minute session, corps members rotate to a different table and participate in a new discussion. During the break and after the third session, there is time to connect informally with alumni whom you didn't get a chance to meet.

DATE/TIME: Tuesday, March 21, 2006. The schedule will be as follows:

Corps Registration & Alums Arrive/Mingle: 5:45 - 6:30pm

18 Minute Networking: 6:30 - 8:30pm

Alumni Reception: 8:30 – 10:00pm

PLACE: Public Welfare Foundation, 1200 U Street, NW; Washington, DC

Known as the True Reformer Building, this beautiful structure was the first in the nation to be designed, financed, built, and owned by the African American community after Reconstruction. It is easily accessible by metro, one block from the east exit of the U Street-African American Civil War Memorial-Cardozo stop on the green line, follow the 13th St Exit.
