Celebrate Earth Day with fellow AmeriCorps Alums!

Saturday, April 22
9am - 1pm

Join us for our April AmeriCorps Alums volunteer project. This month we'll
be celebrating Earth Day by teaming up with SOLV IT-one of the largest Earth
Day Projects in the country on a hands on volunteer project at Oaks Bottom
Wildlife Refuge.

You are needed to hand-remove Garlic Mustard at this 160-acre floodplain
wetland located along the east bank of the Willamette River. After work is
completed, you're invited to join the City Repair Project Earth Day
Celebration at nearby Sellwood Park.

The Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge is a 140-acre floodplain wetland located
along the east bank of the Willamette River. It is rare for such a natural
wetland to exist in the heart of a city.  This area is a birdwatcher's
paradise. Hawks, quail, pintails, mallards, coots, woodpeckers, kestrels,
and widgeons are just the start of the list of birds that one might
encounter in Oaks Bottom. The star of the show, though, is the Great blue
heron, the official bird of the City of Portland.

Help protect this beautiful natural area while having a great time working
side by side with other AmeriCorps Alums.
