All friends of Habitat for Humanity are welcome at the 2015 AmeriCorps Build-A-Thon hosted by New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity and scheduled for two weeks in May, May 19-25 and May 24-31.
They invite you to fill the more than 200 event construction volunteer slots necessary to build 10 new homes and to complete 20 additional home repairs and community service projects. These volunteers will not only be rebuilding communities but will also celebrate the 20thanniversary of AmeriCorps and the national impact this program has made. These builds will also kick off the 10th year of remembrance and recognition of Hurricane Katrina.
Volunteers must be willing to take direction from construction leaders and be able to assist on tasks including, but not limited to, framing, roof work, siding, drywall, interior trim, and painting, use of power tools and repair or refurbishing existing homes. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older to participate in the 2015 AmeriCorps Build-a-Thon events.
