Congress Paves Way for Opening of Two New NCCC Campuses
Thursday, November 08, 2007
By voting to pass Labor-HHS Appropriations bill, Congress has paved the way for the restoration and relocation of two recently eliminated AmeriCorps*NCCC Campuses. The new campuses, slated to be located in Vinton, Iowa and Vicksburg, Mississippi, are good news for the resurgence of AmeriCorps*NCCC- especially in the face of the D.C. and Charleston, SC campuses being eliminated in the past two years. The language included in the conference report explicitly states that the campuses are expected to be opened by the end of fiscal year 2008, with no less than $5,000,000 being allocated for the start-up costs associated with the campuses.
