AmeriCorps Alums is seeking a motivated candidate who is interested in working with a quickly growing, innovative organization and exciting team. The AmeriCorps VISTA is a critical staff position that will support and manage AmeriCorps Alums’ chapters to help them better serve their local community. The Chapter Support Coordinator is responsible for building the capacity of the local chapter leaders and establishing a system of support among the network of leaders. The position will help them establish strategic partnerships in their community, will provide toolkits and training, host monthly conference calls, foster activity and sharing on the online working group and create a sustainable model of leadership for the chapters.
The Chapter Support Coordinator/AmeriCorps VISTA reports to the Alumni Mobilization Manager. Specifically, the AmeriCorps VISTA will:
Help them to establish strategic partnerships with community organizations that address the needs of that community. The VISTA will create systems and toolkit modules to coach the leader on effective practices and provide information on who would be a good partner and why.
Provide toolkit modules and training on how to create effective programs that address the needs of the community and how to coordinate service projects.
Foster a community of support among the chapter leaders, including setting up monthly conference calls, peer exchanges, peer coaching and an active list serv. The VISTA will secure volunteers to coordinate each of these functions so they can be sustains once the VISTA completes the term of service.
Help establish a sustainable structure of leadership for the chapter. The VISTA will help the chapter leaders identify streams of new leadership and put together a stacked structure of leadership committees in order to build both momentum and a solid foundation from which to grow and better serve the community.
Coordinate both Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service activities with our local chapter leaders and National AmeriCorps Week awareness activities.
Qualifications and Core Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, group facilitation, professional manner when working with customers, proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint, problem solver, not afraid to ask questions, sense of humor. Possesses an entrepreneurial spirit and creative approach to his/her work and work/life balance as a VISTA.
This position is ideal for an AmeriCorps VISTA, specifically a second year AmeriCorps member who would also qualify as an alum. The VISTA will work on a daily basis with motivated champion alumni who serve in the volunteer leader capacity. The impact that the VISTA could make is staggering b/c they will work with multiple communities and establish solid leadership that helps to serve the underserved time and time again, even after the VISTA term has ended.
This position enhances critical professional development skills such as group facilitation, written and verbal communication, system development, critical thinking, problem solving and customer service. In addition the VISTA will walk away with content experience on project planning, community partnerships, needs assessment and capacity building.

Standard AmeriCorps VISTA stipend of $11,388, ($949 per month) and a $4,725 Segal Education Award upon completion of your 365 days of service.
Our offices are located in both Washington, DC and Atlanta, GA. This position would be located in the Atlanta office alongside other national VISTA members.
