AmeriCorps Alums is happy to announce that we have now set the dates and time for our unique and informative professional development series! The series will kick off on Thursday, April 16th, 2009, and is designed specifically with AmeriCorps alums in mind.

SERIES DETAILS: The Truth Will Set You and Your Career Free
Part # 1: IDENTIFICATION
Call #1 (April 16, 2009 at 6PM PDT): Identification
There is nothing more important in the entire job search and career development process as becoming familiar with yourself and your individual priorities. "The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing" are the words of Dr. Stephen Covey but also mirror the ultimate concept of this program. Using what we call "The Tremendous Power of the Truth" this segment is geared toward helping individuals indentify their own truths and apply them as a foundation for development of a "personal brand". Developing, understanding and being able to communicate ones "brand" is tantamount to effectiveness during both the search process as well your overall career development.
Call #2 (April 30, 2009 at 6PM PDT): Identification continued
Consistency is the key so during this segment we will use our "personal brand" as the cornerstone for crafting compelling elevator speeches, covers letters, resumes, interview and networking strategies. The truth truly will set you and your career free.......but we first need to get it identified.
Part # 2: IMPLEMENTATION AND APPLICATION
Call # 3 (May 14, 2009 at 6PM PDT) and Call # 4 (May 28, 2009 at 6PM PDT): Implementation and Application
These sessions are collaborative workshops featuring 1 on 1 Q&A with Barry. Putting in to practice the truth and your brand; using YOU to your full effectiveness during the entire search process (networking, strategies, the interview process, the follow-up process and beyond)
EXPLANATION, DEMONSTRATION, CORRECTION, REPETITION
These are the four steps of learning. Participants both share and hear their peers discuss situations, circumstances, constraints and potential solutions that evolve as a normal (and sometime not so normal) part of a job search.
The cost to attend the entire series of four calls is a flat rate of $10 (a 90% discount), which is to be paid after the second call. You are welcome to attend the first two calls at no cost, and if you decide you have received the value you expected, you pay the $10 fee. If you do not think you received the value you expected, you will not be obligated to pay the $10 fee.
These implementation/application sessions are collaborative workshops featuring 1 on 1 Q&A with Barry. You learn by doing, and as such, much of the true learning takes place as participants share as well as hear their peers' situations, circumstances, constraints and potential solutions.
