Indiana University: SPEA Program Recruiting AmeriCorps Alums

The School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA) at Indiana University has a longstanding tradition of recognizing volunteer service through AmeriCorps.  SPEA’s graduate programs have enrolled more than 50 AmeriCorps alumni over the past five years and the MPA program grants a three credit hour waiver for each year of AmeriCorps service (up to six credit hours).

SPEA offers AmeriCorps alumni online access to its #2 ranked MPA program through SPEA Connect.  SPEA’s online graduate programs allow AmeriCorps alumni access to elite public affairs training from anywhere in the world.  SPEA Connect’s online flexibility allows you to continue your career and making a difference in your community while learning new skills and enhancing your public affairs expertise.

21st Century Leaders Springing Up From Ranks of Alums

As the 20th anniversary of AmeriCorps approaches, we thought it would be a good time to reflect on the leadership foundation that AmeriCorps has created for many of its alumni. With over 800,000 AmeriCorps Alums, many of our fellow alumni are matriculating into positions of leadership- calling the shots for multi-million dollar organizations that are national and international in scope. Two such alumni are Delores Morton, President of Programs at Points of Light and Emily Gilliland, Executive Director at Hands On Network.  Read their stories below to hear how they have used their AmeriCorps experience as part of their professional experience.
