RIDING THE AMERI-COASTER
Image Size 200x200

Dear Alum,

The past few weeks have been a bit of an emotional roller coaster. Are you with us? One day, we’re celebrating graduating AmeriCorps members. The next day’s headline announces the threat of drastic cuts to AmeriCorps.

On the upside, we welcomed the AmeriCorps Class of 2015 and captured some of their service highlights in this graduation video! More than 70,000 individuals served this year and with your help we connected them to the critical resources that help them transition to “life after AmeriCorps.” We hosted 24 companies with hundreds of job openings in a Virtual Career Fair and announced a new partnership and member benefit with BoardSource. New York City also joined a growing list of Employers of National Service.

This week, we also co-hosted From Service to Politics on Capitol Hill connecting more than 200 national service vets from AmeriCorps, Peace Corps and the military to members of Congress so they could learn about the path to elected office.  Rep. Seth Moulton shared, “America can’t be the best it can be until we get more service veterans in office.” Don't you agree?!

Yes, it’s been an incredible few weeks …. but meanwhile Congress is proposing massive cuts to AmeriCorps!

We’re dedicated to doing all that we can to support alums – current and future.  So, click here for ways to support service and read on to learn more about new resources and opportunities for you.

In service,

Ben Duda and Mary Bruce
