A vibrant network
of AmeriCorps alumni will be the leadership pipeline for the 21st century
– AmeriCorps members compete for selection to serve at some of the most
innovative organizations in our country – like Teach for America, City Year,
Public Allies, and countless others that serve the public good. 80,000 members will serve in 2013, and over
775,000 have served since 1994.
AmeriCorps Alums, a
networked community of these individuals, represents immense, unrealized
opportunity to: encourage others to serve their country, expand their own civic
engagement activities, and provide leadership by contributing their time,
talent, and treasure towards community improvement.
AmeriCorps Alums is uniquely positioned to address and
resolve many of America’s greatest problems. In this time of frequent cynical
and sometimes uncivil political discourse that often divides neighbor from
neighbor, AmeriCorps Alums has the potential of being the catalyst that unites
communities nationwide – through the rewarding experience of service to
others. Imagine the transformational
impact of millions of experienced, lifetime volunteers who are fully engaged in
serving their neighbors while resolving critical community needs.
