Sign up to volunteer with the Atlanta Chapter of AmeriCorps Alums during Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  In partnership with the Decatur Preservation Alliance (DPA), the Atlanta Chapter of AmeriCorps Alums will be re-igniting chapter by engaging alums in a volunteer project on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service.

Volunteers will make repairs and do yard work for senior citizens’ homes in Decatur. These much needed repairs enable senior homeowners to remain in their homes safely, comfortably and affordably. The project will occur from 9a.m. - 1 p.m.  Volunteers will assist the logistics team with transporting tools and materials, as well as helping to weatherize homes. Yard work is an important component of the Project. Gardeners can lead simple gardening projects.

We will have a limited number of tools and work gloves available.  If possible, please bring supplies with you (work gloves, rakes, clippers and other yard work tools).

Volunteers must be a minimum of 12-years-old, unless they are volunteering through a supervised organization, such as Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts.  Whether you are a skilled tradesperson, own a food service business, or just care about the seniors in our community, please consider volunteering for this project.  , the MLK Service Project is supported through grants and private donations, both financial and in kind. Your gift is tax deductible.
