Shake your cabin fever and join us for an outdoor project in late March! We're helping restore a school forest/wetland that's used as an outdoor classroom to help preschool-age children understand and appreciate the environment. We will assist in a variety of tasks to restore the forest/wetland to its natural state. Volunteers are needed to remove non-native invasive species, such as buckthorn, garlic mustard, and burdock, and to reintroduce native species.
In the school forest/wetland, teachers use field guides to help the children identify flowers, insects, animals, and tracks. They also visit signed nature stops to learn about glacial deposits, deer habitats, the benefits of brush piles, etc. St. David's school forest was certified by the DNR in 1999. There are only 105 certified School Forest Programs in the state.
Join us for a fun afternoon and stick around to grab lunch afterwards if you can. Please RSVP via the link on this page so we can give St. David's an estimate of how many people to expect.
