Georgia Alums, in conjunction with the Georgia Commission on Service and Volunteerism, is participating in MLK, Jr. Day of Service activities across the state of Georgia.  Throughout six pre-determined regions in Georgia, AmeriCorps alumni will gather at senior citizen centers to help spread the Seat for Social Justice project across the state of Georgia.

A Seat For Social Justice serves as a strong symbolic reminder of the challenges many U.S. citizens have faced in the fight for civil rights.  Alumni will work together with current members and seniors to create a seat (see below for an example) that will serve as the signature MLK Day activity for the Macon City Senior Citizens Center.  Other actitivities will include marching in the annual MLK march from Unionville Gym and Rosa Jackson Center and gathering oral histories of Civil Rights Movement participants.
