The American Red Cross is embarking on a large community outreach event. On March 3, 2007, they will be presenting disaster preparedness education to targeted neighborhoods in Dekalb County.  They have also collaborated with the Center for Disease Control to develop a pre-impact survey for neighborhoods with a high volume of disasters.

Stone Mill Elementary School and the 30083 zip code of Stone Mountain were targeted, because tof their over 17 disasters incidents during the past year.  The outreach is a priority to Red Cross, because it will provide insight into the community's preparedness level and how their services may be delivered easier and more effectively.

This survey and disaster education event will be conducted door-to-door.  (Please dress for the weather.) Training will be provided by the CDC and American Red Cross the morning of the event and a small lunch will be provided as well. There are tentative dates for other counties Cobb, Gwinnett and Clayton counties coming soon.

Please assist the Red Cross by signing up to prepare communities for disasters.
