Join Project YES for the 3rd Annual Community Garden Day! Project YES, in association with the Northwestern University Settlement House and Neighbor Space, is hosting their 3rd Annual Community Garden Day. They are looking for volunteers to help bring life back into the gardens surrounding Humboldt Park and North Lawndale.

Project YES, Northwestern University Settlement House, and Neighbor Space (501(c)3 organizations) are hosting a day of community service, open to the public, on Saturday, April 21. Volunteers will help with weeding, mulching, planting, and cleaning existing gardens to promote and maintain community pride in each neighborhood. Interested volunteers should meet at Lowell Elementary School at 8:30 am for volunteer registration. After registration, volunteers will be assigned to different gardens throughout the neighborhood. Necessary gardening tools will be provided and a cookout lunch will be served. For additional information, please contact Patrick Bader at (773) 278-7471 ext. 143 or

The Northwestern University Settlement House has been a pillar for the West Town community for over one hundred years, providing educational programs and offering dynamic services to their ever-changing community. It is their mission to promote education in struggling schools and to foster an ethic of service throughout the community they serve. Project YES has been serving the greater West Town area from Hermosa to North Lawndale, all the way to Noble Square, for the past six years.
