National AmeriCorps Week: In the News

What Is AmeriCorps Week?

AmeriCorps Week is a weeklong, nationwide event designed to bring more Americans into service, salute AmeriCorps members and alums for their powerful impact, and thank the community partners who make AmeriCorps possible.

When Does It Take Place?
The first ever AmeriCorps Week is scheduled for May 13-20, 2007 and will mark a historic milestone as the 500,000th AmeriCorps member will take the pledge to "get things done for America."

What is AmeriCorps Alums Doing to Celebrate?
AmeriCorps Alums is launching a membership drive inviting all alumni of AmeriCorps (and soon-to-be alumni) to register on our site as members. Prizes will be awarded! During the campaign, we are unveiling brand new benefits to alum members and a new website with enhanced services in conjunction with launching Annual Membership Dues, a strategy of sustainability for AmeriCorps Alums through our alums’ collective investment.

Who Gets a Prize?
Daily Raffles!
1. Of all the new registrants on the website that day, one person each day will selected to win
a fabulous prize!
2. Of all the people who REFERRED a new registrant that day, one person will be selected to win a prize! (Must make sure they input your name in when they register. If you refer more than one person that day, you have more chances to win!)

Local Chapter Contests!
We encourage friendly competition among our local AmeriCorps Alums chapters to recruit new members! At the end of the week, the chapter with the highest number of new members and the chapter with the highest % of new members (making it fair for more rural chapters) wins a shopping spree on our online merchandise store!

What are the New Benefits and How Much are Dues?

Premium Membership, which would make you eligible for all benefits and full access to the website, will be $25 annually/ $250 for lifetime membership. Also offered is a Basic Membership, which is free and only provides limited access to the website and benefits/services. For a full list of the membership types and associated benefits, click here.
