2006 was the year the U.S. Public Service Academy got off the ground. In the fall of 2005, after Hurricane Katrina had ravaged the Gulf Coast, AmeriCorps alum Chris Myers Asch wrote up a twelve-page proposal to build a national college dedicated to developing civilian leadership.  Upon enlising fellow AmeriCorps alum Shawn Raymond in the effort, the two revised and strengthened the proposal and by early 2006, they were ready to go public with it. Here is a good-natured look at the inagural year of the U.S. Public Service Academy.
