The first step abroad begins the same as learning how to drive—with a nervous and excited smile for the camera as it takes a passport photograph. Many times an individual’s first experiences with international travel are as shaky as the first behind the wheel. With sponsorship from IPSL, AmeriCorps Alums is launching an International Careers Series to facilitate awareness of a global workspace.

The series welcomes AmeriCorps alumni to a community with a shared passion for international development and service. Young professionals eager to build their own social capital and knowledge will be engaging with more experienced peers. Over the next nine months, this international cohort will initiate globally-focused content and conversations through podcasts, blogs, and quarterly dialogues.

About IPSL
IPSL programs combine academic studies and community service and full cultural immersion to give students a deeper, more meaningful study abroad experience. IPSL’s purpose is twofold: to promote service-learning through publications, conferences, research, and training opportunities for faculty and service-agency staff and to offer international programs for undergraduate and graduate students from institutions of higher education around the world. IPSL aims to engage students, educators, and community members in the union of service and learning, so that all may become more civically engaged, interculturally literate, internationally aware, and responsive to the needs of others. To learn more about IPSL, visit their website, check out their videos on YouTube and connect with them on Facebook and Twitter.
